PERSONALITY                                                

{Workaholic| Dilligent| Precise} 'POWER MODE' SOLENE'.

Though on the surface, Sol may seem like a lazy bum due to her slow-moving nature, she is actually quite the hard-worker during the times when she truly needs to be. Ergo when she is dealing with potions. When she is in her working state of mind, it is like she becomes a completely different person. When she is in the zone, she is like a machine (only to return back to her sloth-like nature seconds after the task is finished). She calls this efficient side of herself 'Power Mode' and mentions it quite a lot. Perhaps in an attempt to justify that she isn't ALL lazy. She calls herself "Power Solene". Some people find it immature, but Solene has never really cared. It's almost like a complete 360. Time does not matter when she reverts to this weird persona. Too bad she is only like this when she is in the LITERAL act of crafting potions. _{whisper whisper very rarely though, power mode solene has an after-effect and lasts for quite some time.}

        "*yawns*... Sorry... it's too early for me to be talking right now..."
While Solene can sleep anywhere and at any time, she is the most sluggish in the morning and probably won't get much better until later that evening. She moves pretty slowly and asks people to repeat things often because she fails to pay attention the first time. On normal days, she'll just zone off sometimes in the middle of conversation. On not-so-great days, she may be a tad snappy. During the worst days--days in which she has been staying up several nights to perfect a new potion recipe--she may just well be a living zombie. Her day shift at work makes matters worse. You'd think she'd be a sloth hybrid with how slow she cleans her workspace or when she's dealing with customers. But once Solani, the Witch, makes an order for creating a potion, Sol suddenly becomes incredibly alert and dilligent!

        "Huh..? Were you talking to me?"
Solene may be curt with her responses but it's not because she dislikes you! She probably wouldn't mind talking to you or making friends with you but because she doesn't pay attention due to her daydreaming half the time, she may seem completely bored with your conversation. Don't take it the wrong way though. All you need to do is snatch her attention again and she'll get what you're saying... err.. hopefully. She may seem kind of like a cold statue at first due to the fact that she is unfamiliar with you, but once you crack the surface, you'll find that she is nothing of the sort and is actually pretty sweet.

Solene is a weirdo to say the least. Maybe it might be due to her not always being "all there" in terms of her surroundings. She's the kind of person who does really unnecessary things (like decorating plants with stickers or organizing fallen maple leaves by size in the middle of the street). What's more, she doesn't seem to understand why people stare either. If confronted with the question, "Why are you doing that", she will usually look at you like YOU are one with the problem and respond with, "Well why aren't you?" She also seems to be quite blind when it comes to personal space. Unless it's her own. She moves very slowly and treats things with care and is very gentle normally. 

{Prideful | Passionate | Stubborn | Defensive -when it comes to potion-making} 
        "It's the one thing I do well. And I KNOW I can do well."
She is used to people doubting her abilities in potion-making because of the way she comes across, but Solene is quite confident in her skill. Though she is usually pretty passive most of the time, she gets really defensive if somebody underestimates her potion-making. (When she hears someone doubting her, it is almost like her sleepiness magically disappears.) She knows that she has a problem in terms of her demeanor, but Solene is passionate about her craft and takes potion-making seriously. Perhaps a little too seriously. Even when she knows she COMPLETELY messed up a potion, she still tries her best to keep her demeanor and not panic because she cannot stand it when people say anything regarding her skills. She has a "I know it's wrong, you don't need to keep pointing it out" kind of attitude when it comes to her concoctions and can be a bit touchy when someone points out a flaw in her creation. Perhaps it's due to her growing up with constant criticism.

        "Oh this? Yeah I mean, I saw it at the store and remembered how you got me a gift that one time so I decided I should get you one too.... But ACK! N-no don't think of it as a trade-off or anything I just ---*sighs* Just take it... Bye...  I'm going to go take a nap."
Once you get to know her, you'll find that Solene is actually much like a child. Though she doesn't rough-house due to her gentle-nature, she does like to tease and play and do the thing where you tap the person's shoulder and then hide and pretend it was not you. She has a soft heart and will gladly aid anyone in need if she has the resources for it even though she may be a bit awkward about it in the process. Though she is uncomfortable in receiving compliments or gifts, Solene will make it part of her agenda to show her gratitude in some way in return. She actually gets flustered pretty easily when people say or do nice things for her because she doesn't ever really expect it.

HISTORY                                                   

    Born to a caribou hybrid and a mountain goat hybrid, Solene's family naturally lives in the mountains in a snow village. The Chamberlaine family was well-known in their village as producing and training the best cooks in the area. Solene and her older brother, Solven, were raised on the notion that one day, they will take over the family restaurant and train those who wish to learn culinary arts. While Solven was a natural at whipping up incredible delicacies, Solene simply did not have the magic touch. The girl was an introverted, but very competitive child, constantly trying to come up with a dish that won't be overshadowed by her brother's because she was sick of people telling her she was incapable. At a young age, Sol learned to make use of her failures and criticisms as motivation to improve, thus shaping her to who she is today. While her dishes were artistic, pretty, and often times perfectly mixed (consistency was the one thing she was quite good at), the taste was simply A W F U L. And to be a good cook, one must be able to produce good taste. 
    She discovered her love for potion-making at a young age when she was practicing her cooking skills alone in the forest behind her home. A witch was passing by when she noticed how nicely blended Sol's soup was. The witch decided to put her to the test, hoping to take her in as an apprentice if she passed. This particular witch had trouble with consistency and consistency was the one thing Solene can do well. The witch emerged herself and (after a quick squabble) was able to convince Solene to follow a recipe for a potion. When the concoction was finished, it was a wonderfully blended Sleeping Potion. Seeing that Sol had potential in making _{really really bad-tasting, but good quality} potions, the witch decided to take her in as an apprentice. ((Good thing taste was never a first priority in potion-making...))
    Naturally, her parents disapproved of Sol's new hobby, insisting that potion-making "wasn't real cooking", but Solene did not let their words faze her. She was finally happy to find something she excelled in. However, in order to please her parents, Solene continued training as a cook but made sure to sneak out every night to the forest to train with the witch. All those sleepless nights practicing potions and long days _{failing at} cooking in the kitchen, made Solene prone to knocking out in random places and times of the day. It almost seemed like she was ALWAYS sluggish, mainly during the day when she has to train for cooking. It gave her parents the impression that she was simply lazy so they decided to take matters into their own hands.
    One day, her parents had an announcement for her. Because Solene did not improve much in terms of her cooking skills despite already being 20 years old, her parents, showing her a flyer for the Eclair Express, told her to head to Toffee Town to apply for a position as a chef's apprentice. At first Solene was completely against moving away especially to do something she was so poor at, but upon finding out that there was a place called Ambrosia Alchemy for potion-makers in Toffee Town, she saw this as her chance. 
    After saying goodbye to her witch friend, and telling her parents that she will "yes yes, get a job as a chef's apprentice", _{coughpotionmakercough} she boarded the Eclair Express to make her way to a different life.
